The University of Regina has been instrumental in pioneering the technology through its own carbon capture research projects and participation in the IEA Greenhouse Gas Program in the southeastern Saskatchewan oil fields around Weyburn.

The IPAC-CO2 centre’s location at the University of Regina recognizes the University’s experience at addressing the issues related to CCS.
